About

Welcome to travelsnearlyeverywhere by me, Naomi Goldstein. Newly retired lawyer, mother of one, scrapbooker, blue jays baseball fan, lover of food, wine, books, architecture, quirky museums, animals,  etc. And traveling….. discovering new places, admiring ancient ruins and modern new monuments, enjoying the vibe of big  cities and the haunting beauty of ghost towns. Be it ocean, desert or jungle, I want to see it.
My love of travel started early. In 1961, when I was 10 months old, my mom took me on  my first international flight, from Saskatoon, Canada to London, England. I have been traveling ever since: everything from family road trips to backpacking with a Eurorail Pass, to spending my maternity leave in Australia, taking all-inclusive beach trips in Cuba, Panama and Mexico and too many business trips to count. Between 2006 and 2007, I took a year off of work, grabbed my  then 12 year old son and traversed the globe. We swam with seals in the Galapagos, got escorted to a police station in Mali, had a monk give us a tour of Rangoon and were horribly maligned in a  book, authored by a fellow traveler on the Trans-Siberian train. In 2010, I visited my 7th continent, a wonderful cruise to Antarctica.

After 33 years of working for the government, in 2018 I retired and decided to indulge my passion for travel full time. I rented out my condo in Toronto, put everything into storage and made sure I had lots of extra pages in passport. This is a chronicle of those travels.

I just finished a 10 week road trip around the US and Canada. Now, I am settling in Europe, focusing on France. I  have rented a place in Paris and plan to visit each of the 13 French regions over the course of the next 2 years, along with other European countries as the mood strikes. My journey begins in Stockholm, Sweden.

Glad you joined me.
